Catching Up With UFC Middleweight Mark Munoz

FHTV: How has your training been coming along for the fight with C.B. Dollaway?

MM: Training has been coming real well! This is the fight that’s going to take me to the next level and I’ve been training extremely hard for this one!

FHTV: It seems you are always being pitted against college wrestlers that have similar backgrounds such as yourself?

MM: Yeah, I know, right?! It’s all good though! I’m ready for anyone and I’m going to prepare accordingly.

FHTV: What are you thoughts on Dollaway? Will you have a similar plan to that of your fight with Simpson?

MM: Dollaway is a very well-rounded fighter! He’s durable and tough! Going to go out put on a show!!!

FHTV: You came over from the WEC to the UFC what were the biggest changes that you noticed inside and outside the cage?

MM: There were not that many changes! Still have nerves upon entering the octagon. Same process but just a little bigger venue and crowds.

FHTV: What advice would you give to the WEC guys that will be fighting in the UFC for the first time?

MM: I’d tell them that nothing has changed and to go out like any other fight, lay it on the line, give your best performance and that’s all you can ask for.

FHTV: Out of your 11 profession fights has any fight in particular changed you as a fighter or you learned the most from?

MM: I learned the most from my two losses and Kendall Grove fight. It was those fights that pointed out my weaknesses and what I needed to improve and it’s my goal to improve everytime I step into the octagon. Thankful for those experiences!

FHTV: When you fought Kendall Grove in Abu Dhabi what was that like? (Flying half way around the world, Culture, People)

MM: It was amazing to fight in a different country amd not to mention how I won that fight digging down deep to find a way to win! I believe that’s what champions do and I hope that one day I can become a champion in the middleweight division.

FHTV: When I watch you fight in looks like you are have a blast out there, what is going through your mind as the bell sounds for the fight to begin?

MM: I tell myself, to have fun, let the chips fall where it may, and to always fight for God, my family, friends, fans and my teammates and training partners!

FHTV: What are your goals for 2011 inside and outside the cage?

MM: As a fighter to become a world champion and outside the cage to be able to use my position to help others to accomplish their goals both personally and athletically.

FHTV: How do you feel about Brandon Vera being cut by the UFC?

MM: I was heavily saddened from the decision to drop Brandon from the roster. Not only did he bring so much to the UFC in it’s beginning stages but he’s a dear friend and I know he’s capable enough to compete and vie for the title. You haven’t seen the last of Brandon!

FHTV: Who do you like in the Manny Pacquiao/Shane Mosley bout?

MM: Hahaha!! Is this a trick question!! Manny all the way!! He’s going to dismantle Mosley!
