James McSweeney talks mystery opponent at Kings of Kombat 7 in Australia

When they test the fighters for Australia’s “Kings of Kombat 7” happening tomorrow in the land down under, let’s all hope that ginkgo biloba is not a banned substance, because former UFC heavyweight James “The Hammer” McSweeney clearly needs some going into his match. Talking with our camera, both he and head coach Kit Cope have trouble remembering the man (Jeff King) they have supposedly been training to defeat and give the Brit his sixth win for the promotion.

Perhaps you are sitting there yourself  trying to remember who McSweeney is; he was on season ten of TUF: Heavyweights and wanted to kill Matt Mitrione and then he himself was dispatched in the semi finals by Roy Nelson. That behind him, he has moved on from training in Colorado and set up shop in Las Vegas under Robert Drysdale and Kit Cope, admitting he needed to change his game upon entering MMA, and specifically, the UFC.

“I think alot of my losses can be due to the numerous fights i had in kickboxing and K-1…to switch from that style of fighting to MMA, that’s a tough thing to do and I really had to learn how to fight on MMA level, so that’s what I feel I have been improving on; I feel that another thing is I have the coaches to teach me, there are some coaches who are not fighters and some fighters who are not coaches, Kit knows how to coach and has fought.”

Best of luck to “The Hammer” and enjoy the full video interview below!
